Patient transportation in a long-term care facility is often a repeated part of the daily nursing routine. Residents may need to move between their rooms, nursing stations, rehabilitation areas, examination spaces or other care areas, and many of them require caregiver assistance throughout the process.
The JH-OCT103 patient transport stretcher is designed around this type of professional care workflow. It combines 560–860 mm manual height adjustment, a 300 kg maximum load capacity, lift-up ABS side rails, central braking and a retractable fifth wheel for directional control.
A gas-spring assisted backrest, two patient safety straps, an oxygen cylinder holder and a telescopic stainless steel IV pole provide additional support for residents who require assisted transportation within nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
Not every nursing bed, care bed or treatment surface is positioned at the same height. The JH-OCT103 allows caregivers to manually adjust the stretcher height between approximately 560 mm and 860 mm before beginning patient handling.
The lifting system is operated through a foldable stainless steel crank. Turning the crank raises or lowers the entire stretcher platform according to the required working position.
For residents who cannot independently move from a nursing bed onto a transport surface, equipment preparation is an important part of the caregiver workflow.
The adjustable height allows staff to position the stretcher according to the transfer situation before the resident is moved.
The stretcher uses a mechanical crank rather than an electric actuator for height adjustment.
This gives nursing staff a straightforward operating method for changing the platform height without relying on an electrically powered lifting system.
After adjustment, the stainless steel crank can be folded away to reduce unnecessary protrusion during transportation.
The crank mechanism incorporates bidirectional interference protection and automatic lubrication according to the product configuration.
The specified no-load starting torque is no more than 2 N·m.
Two ABS lift-up side rails are installed along the patient platform. Each rail measures approximately 1080 × 260 × 35 mm.
When raised, the rails provide lateral protection around the resident during transportation.
When nursing staff need closer access from the side, the rail can be lowered before patient handling begins.
This makes the same stretcher suitable for two different stages of the workflow: open side access during assisted transfer and raised side protection during transportation.
The rail mechanism incorporates gas-spring damping, providing a more controlled lowering action when the side rail is released.
In long-term care, a transport stretcher may repeatedly move, stop, reposition and move again during the same working day.
The JH-OCT103 is equipped with four Ø150 mm central-control casters and a foot-operated central braking system.
When the stretcher reaches the required position, caregivers can engage the brake before beginning patient handling. The brake can then be released when the stretcher is ready to move again.
When the central fifth wheel is retracted, the stretcher moves freely on its four main casters.
This mode provides greater maneuverability when caregivers need to turn, enter a resident room or position the stretcher beside a nursing bed.
For longer transport routes, the central fifth wheel can be engaged to provide directional assistance.
This helps the stretcher maintain a straighter forward path and gives caregivers another mobility option when moving residents along corridors between different care areas.
The fifth-wheel mechanism incorporates spring damping for additional compliance when moving across uneven sections of the transport route.
Control pedals are positioned on both sides of the stretcher for convenient caregiver access.
The backrest can be adjusted from approximately 0° to 75° ±5°.
A gas-spring assisted mechanism supports the adjustment and is designed for convenient one-hand caregiver operation.
This allows nursing staff to change the resident's upper-body position according to the care and transport situation without using an electric backrest actuator.
The JH-OCT103 has a specified maximum load capacity of 300 kg.
For nursing homes and long-term care facilities serving residents with different body weights and mobility levels, this provides a defined load specification for equipment selection.
Patient size, physical condition and the facility's transfer procedure should also be considered when selecting and using transport equipment.
The stretcher is supplied with a 20 mm thick Oxford-fabric mattress and two patient safety straps.
When correctly positioned and used, the straps provide additional restraint for residents who require greater support during transportation.
The straps complement the raised side rails as part of the overall patient-support configuration.
The stretcher uses a one-piece molded engineering-plastic patient platform.
The molded surface and open-access configuration around the platform help simplify routine wiping and cleaning as part of the facility's equipment maintenance procedures.
The main frame is manufactured from welded carbon steel with an electrostatic powder-coated surface.
The longitudinal frame members use 50 × 30 × 2 mm rectangular hollow steel, while the triangular supports are formed from 2.5 mm cold-rolled steel plate.
The coated steel structure provides a practical construction for equipment intended for repeated use in professional care environments.
Handles are integrated around the four corners of the molded patient platform.
These provide additional gripping points when caregivers need to push, pull or make smaller positioning adjustments beside a nursing bed or within a resident room.
An oxygen cylinder holder is integrated at the head end of the stretcher.
The holder is designed to accommodate an oxygen cylinder with a diameter of approximately 135 mm.
Where compatible oxygen support is required during transport, the cylinder can remain with the stretcher while the resident is moved between care areas.
A telescopic stainless steel IV pole is included in the standard configuration.
IV pole sockets are positioned diagonally at the head and foot ends, allowing nursing staff to select an appropriate installation position according to the resident's treatment requirements.
Use free caster movement when entering the room and position the stretcher beside the nursing bed.
Use the manual crank to set the patient platform between 560 mm and 860 mm according to the bedside transfer situation.
Secure the stretcher before assisted patient handling begins.
Lower the ABS side rail to give caregivers closer lateral access to the resident.
After the resident has been transferred onto the stretcher, adjust the backrest as required, raise the side rail and use the safety straps appropriately.
Release the central brake before movement. Keep the fifth wheel retracted when flexible maneuvering is required or engage it when directional guidance is useful along a longer corridor.
Apply the central brake again before further patient handling or transfer begins.
After the transport procedure is complete, the stretcher can be returned to the designated equipment area for routine cleaning and preparation according to the facility's procedures.
In a nursing home or long-term care facility, transport equipment may be shared across different rooms or care areas rather than assigned permanently to one resident.
The JH-OCT103 combines mechanical height adjustment, central braking and two different mobility modes in one transport platform, making it suitable for facilities that require a practical stretcher for repeated daily patient movement.
Its oxygen cylinder holder and IV pole also allow the equipment to support a broader range of transport situations when compatible respiratory or infusion equipment needs to remain with the resident.
